# Gutter Installation

Gutters usually show they are failing before anything else does. Water spills over the front edge in a heavy rain, seams drip, sections pull away from the house, or you find washed-out mulch and damp spots in the basement along one wall. Behind the gutter, the fascia board can soften and rot. Once that happens, new gutters have nothing solid to hang on. We look at the whole edge of the roof, not just the trough. We check the fascia and soffits, size the gutters and downspouts for the roof area they drain, set the pitch so water runs to the outlets, and direct downspouts away from the foundation. Where the fascia or soffit is damaged, we replace it so the new system fastens to sound wood and the soffit vents can do their job for attic ventilation. Do you replace fascia and soffits along with gutters?

Yes. Soffits and fascia are part of our gutter work. If the fascia behind your old gutters is soft or rotted, we replace it before hanging the new system so the gutters have something solid to fasten to.

How do I know if my gutters need replacing instead of cleaning?

Cleaning fixes clogs. Cleaning will not solve sagging sections, leaking seams, rust-through or gutters pulling away from the fascia. We can take a look and tell you what we see.
